FAIL FOR NAIL

Having watched them tank this year, with no hope of making the playoffs, I have come up with an idea to encourage them to fail…FAIL FOR NAIL.

If the Habs can finish as a bottom feeder (bottom 5) they are in contention to get the first overall pick.

That pick will most likely be the young phenom Nail Yakupov (Наиль Якупов) , the the OHL’s Sarnia Sting. In his rookie season he had 49 goals, 52 assists for 101 points in 65 games. This season he has 29 goals, 22 goals, 33 assists for 55 points in 29 games. (source HockeyDB.com).

The Habs need a superstar. Not since the days of the Flying Frenchmen have they had a bona fide superstar that can be a game-breaker. This is the hero that Montreal fans have been longing for since the days of Guy Lafleur.

With a name like Nail, you know he has to be good. Can you imagine the puns that will play out in the sports media?

ummm maybe not…that just sounds bad on a whole lot of levels. We won’t go there.

While some of the vets in the Habs Newsgroup, where I tend to troll hang out,  do not agree with me on this, I have to respectfully disagree with them. Montreal needs their superstar. They need to wrap themselves up in all of the drama that goes with having a top-tier player in the lineup.

While Carey Price may be a thoroughbred, and Saint Patrick Roy may have stood on his head for a couple of Stanley Cups; they are not the type of superstar that Montreal fans crave. The finicky Hab fans need a star who can nail up huge offensive numbers. It has been a long time coming and this years edition of the Habs need encouragement from us fans for them to fail so we get Nail in a Habs jersey.

The bigger the failure, the better the odds. Only the bottom five teams have a shot at him, so cheer on the Habs to future victory and glory. Cheer for them to lose all of their remaining games in the 2011-2012 season.

Pierre ‘the Goat’ Gauthier

Who is this guy? Has anyone ever seen him? Heard from him? Oh yeah, isn’t he the one who signed Andre Markov to a contract extension because he was progressing as expected? Hmmm how many times has that song played this season?

I seem to remember him as the poster boy for, as Paul Simon once sung, The Sound of Silence. He, in his lack of support of Coach Cunneyworth, during the recent french media bashing for Randy’s lack of parlez-vous, was nothing short of deplorable. That was the proverbial ‘throwing the coach under the bus’. His silence on the matter was deafening, but that is the expected norm for Gauthier. I would suspect that he has lost the respect of the coaching staff and players for that gaffe; but there is good news on the horizon. A highly probable outcome from a successful FAIL FOR NAIL campaign would be that the Goat gets turfed by the ownership group. Hence the catch phrase:

Now on to Pierre McGuire. Love him or hate him he has let it be known that he would love to be a GM in the NHL. Having been interviewed for the job in Minnesota he was, at least in the minds of one ownership group, a serious candidate. How many are you rolling your eyes or laughing? Here are some excellent points raised by McGuire, that makes a great case for turfing The Goat, and letting him have the job:

Radek Bonk – This move has Pierre Gauthier written all over it. He’s not that good.

Cristobal Huet – I remain highly skeptical. He’s never been this good at any level. I don’t think he can sustain this high level of play.

Sergei Samsanov – Did they not watch the Stanley Cup final? He’s a parameter player.

Guillaume Latendresse – Big mistake if he starts in the NHL as an 18 year old. He needs to develop properly. Don’t rush him.

Janne Niinimma – Love the guy. Real good player. Great teammate. But I don’t know how much he has left. His best days are way behind him.

Sheldon Souray – One trick pony. There isn’t much interest around the league. I don’t know who’s going to sign him. Don’t know how effective he can be in post lockout era.

Alexei Emelin – They’ve got to get him over here. He can play in the NHL.

Kyle Chipchura – I worry about his skating, especially after his knee injury. Might be able to hang on as a 4th line player.

Alex Tanguay – A 1st round pick? Terrible trade.

Robert Lang – Can still play but don’t know how much he has left. A lot of miles in that body.

Roman Hamrlik – A good player but I don’t know about that 4th year. He’ll help but the term is one year too long.

Georges Laraque – You wanted him, you’ve got him. Why didn’t Pittsburgh want him back?

Chris Higgins – He’s got to stop talking about being a 30 goal scorer. He’s not.

Mike Cammalleri – I don’t know how many other teams would have given him a 6th year.

Brian Gionta – A true gamer. Real solid player and teammate. But again, that 5th year might be a killer. Montreal seems to have to add an extra year to get players to sign.

Jaroslav Spacek – Good player but not much left in the tank. Was a healthy scratch for Buffalo last year. I’d rather have Francois Beauchemin.

Scott Gomez – See Above

Travis Moen – Very useful player if you give him a defined role.

Hal Gill – Very effective defensively. Better than people think, especially on the penalty kill.

Benoit Pouliot – First player I would have traded if I had gotten the job in Minnesota.

Dominic Moore – Why did they give up a second round pick when they could have had this player as a free agent?

Marc Andre Bergeron – Good pick up as a fill in for Markov on power play. Serious issues in his own end.

PK Subban – Will be a star player. Maybe more. But manage expectations.

Jeff Halpern – Real smart player. Valuable role guy. But not the same on his skates since ripping up his knee.

Lars Eller – If he ends up playing on the top two lines then the trade is a good one. But I believe they could have and should have gotten more. Coming off the season and playoffs he had you had to drive up the price for Halak. They didn’t do that.

Erik Cole – Very good signing. I worry about that 4th year but he’s what they need.

Chris Campoli – A depth defenseman at this stage. People think he’s a really good skater but he’s knock kneed. Prone to mistakes.

Rene Bourque – I like the trade but it really depends on what they do with the money saved on the Cammalleri contract and what they do with that second round pick.

2011-2012 Montreal Canadiens – If they don’t finish in the top 5 on the power play they won’t make the playoffs.

If that was not enough street creds, his pedigree was given a major boost when hockey legend, Scotty Bowman, came out in his corner, thinking that he would make a great GM for the Montreal Canadiens.

As Scotty Bowman told me just before Christmas Pierre was a “hockey guy” long before he hit radio and television. Scotty met Pierre at St. Lawrence University in New York in the 1980′s. He eventually brought Pierre to Pittsburgh where McGuire worked as a scout and assistant coach helping the Penguins win two Stanley Cups.

I don’t know about you, but if Scotty supports Pierre McGuire, then I do. He is just what the Habs need in the front office. Someone who is vocal, someone who is bilingual, and someone who is a native Montrealer.

I seem to have a knack of pissing off the social media giants as of late. I messed with it for about one day and then said to myself that YouTube knows all. I found a lot of videos claiming that they had the best, the fastest, and/or the easiest method for building a cube. I tried their methods and found that my fingers were too big to wrap the balls in a tube around my fingers and then pull them apart and build the cube.

So, in Mad Ape fashion, I decided to do it myself and invent my own method. First I got good…next I got faster. I figured that there were a few more BuckyBallers out there who grew tired of trying to make a cube out of their own balls, thus I decided to make a couple of ‘How To’ YouTube Videos of BuckyBall Cube Building 101.

My first method is sort of fast but is so damn easy even a Cave Ape could do it…So I did. Anyone can use this method to build a cube. Watch and learn:

So now that you have mastered my first method, or felt cocky enough to skip it and just jump to the next level, may I suggest attempting another, much faster, method. You should be able to do this in under 60 seconds. The trick to this quicker method is making sure that when you are applying the palm pressure that you do not press too hard on your BuckyBalls or they will break formation. I don’t know about you, but I certainly do not want broken balls.

Barrington Irving is the Guinness World Record holder for “Youngest Person to Fly Solo Around the World.”How did you come up with the idea of flying solo across the world?I wanted to inspire other kids to pursue careers in aviation and aerospace so I thought this might be an amazing feat that would inspire them.

How do you feel about achieving a Guinness World Record?

Awesome, unreal, humbled, and inspired to accomplish even greater feats. Records are made to be broken. I’m just glad I have two records, and one of them–being the first black pilot to circle the world–no one will be able to ever break because I was the first.

What is your earliest memory of Guinness World Records?

I remember as a kid that I could never afford to purchase the Guinness records books, but every time I went shopping with my mom, I would read through the Guinness book, wondering what amazing talent I might have myself. Little did I know someday my own name would appear there!

Who do you consider to be your inspiration for this achievement?

My inspiration was my Jamaican parents for working so hard when they came to the U.S. and providing me an opportunity to receive an education. In addition, my mentor Capt. Gary Robinson inspired me to fly and Fabio Alexander, my first donor, was the first person to believe in my record-setting flight.

Can you share with us any moments that were scary or dramatic? Did you have a time that you thought you wouldn’t make it?

When I began this historic venture, I immediately realized why the youngest person before me was in his 30’s. The skills, patience, timing, training, and decisions I made at 23 helped me to survive. I almost died encountering a sandstorm at 17,000 feet over Saudi Arabia; crossing the North Atlantic on a 12.5-hour flight; encountering a monsoon over Vietnam (when I dropped my airplane from 20,000 feet to 9,200 ft., almost colliding into a mountain); and crossing the Bering Sea, when my aircraft was heavily covered with ice and I landed with only 12 minutes of fuel remaining on an island only one mile long!

Inversely, when did you realize that you were going to make it around the globe?

I never really felt comfortable until I reached Alaska and I saw US cable TV. (laughs)

How did you keep yourself alert and focused during the flight?

Eating sunflower seeds, drinking energy drinks, and relying on my own sheer will. Tricking myself mentally is what kept me focused. I took off my watch and said to myself: “No more will I worry about the time, I determine time now.”

What happened to your plane once your trip was finished?

I’ve used it to fly 600 kids around the U.S.

What did your family and friends think of your expedition?

Crazy, daring, perplexed, scared… now they are glad to know I’m a Guinness World Record Holder!

What are your plans for the future?

I plan to provide a teaching experience like no other from a flying classroom, 40,000 feet in the air, helping kids explore math and science.

Over the years I have spent considerable time, effort, and expense trying to educate the fluoridated media zombies to wake up. I have had moderate success and traffic to the blog has always been steady, however in the past couple of weeks the traffic here and on my YouTube channel has gone bezerko and all because of a dumb video I made to punk conspiracy loons.

Sure there is conspiracy but I have come to the conclusion that most people are not capable of critical thought. Look at this video and then look at the view count. In 2 weeks I have had over 600,000 views on this video alone. I love the comments from the tards, some of which Robbie has posted below. Before you read them may I suggest that you read the damn video description because it is obvious that 99.9% of the people watching the video don’t or can’t read.

Bachmann Wins Ames Straw Poll With 29% Of Vote, Ron Paul Takes Second With 28%

The Ames Straw vote results out of Iowa are in, and Michelle Bachmann appears to have won with 29% of the votes, or 4,823 of the 16,892 votes cast. Bernanke nemesis Ron Paul placed second, just 150 votes behind Bachmann, at 4,671, or taking down 28% of the total. For those stupefied by this result, a source on the ground informs us that Bachmann proceeded to hand out 6000 free tickets at $30 each with a mandatory registration at her booth to gain concert entrance. Furthermore, final results were probably tabulated by the BLS. As for other frontrunners, Pawlenty came in a distant third with 14% or 2,293 of the votes. The Hill has more: “A House member has never finished in the top two; extraordinarily, two House lawmakers finished nearly neck-and-neck toward the top. Bachmann is the first woman to ever win the straw poll. “We’re very excited,” said Alice Steward, a spokesman for Bachmann. “it’s a very emotional night for her, she’s excited and thankful all the hard work of the supporters and volunteers paid off…Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.) won about 10 percent, pizza magnate Herman Cain finished at about nine percent, and Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-Mich.) drew just 35 total votes. Murmurs of huge crowds at Waterloo native’s splay on the campus of Iowa State University persisted throughout the day, suggesting that momentum was with — and never waned — from Bachmann’s campaign.” Rounding off the field were Santorum with 10% of the vote, Herman Cain with 9%, write ins Perry and Romney with 4% and 3%, respectively, and Gingrich getting 2%. We are not quite sure if this is the cue to laugh or cry. Our money is on the latter.

A rousing late-day speech that stressed social conservative credentials and Bachmann’s ties to the Hawkeye State culminated with Bachmann beckoning undecided voters to her tent, which boasted air conditioning, seating, and performances by country star Randy Travis.

“Join me, I’m heading over to the voting booth right now,” she said. “Come with me now.”

Pawlenty’s failure to finish in the top spot raises new questions about the core health of his campaign. The former Minnesota governor has failed to raise his poll numbers outside the single digits, and had poured most of his remaining resources into the straw poll, where he hoped a victory would infuse his campaign with new momentum.

“We made progress in moving from the back of the pack into a competitive position for the caucuses, but we have a lot more work to do,” Pawlenty said in a statement. “This is a long process to restore America — we are just beginning and I’m looking forward to a great campaign.”

Pawlenty had set expectations at a finish somewhere in the top-tier; he’s said repeatedly that a first-place finish wasn’t essential. But even Pawlenty acknowledged Friday that a disappointing finish would force him to “reassess” his campaign, which has set itself up as more of a traditional, nationally-oriented campaign.

As for Paul…

Paul’s showing caps off an effort of almost five years, dating back to his first bid for the Republican nomination way back in 2007, when he started to assemble the vast grassroots organization that propelled him to victory in today’s straw poll.

He made a midday speech to straw poll participants that was heavy on playing up the Texas congressman’s opposition to abortion rights; he also emphasized his opposition to the war in Iraq and criticism of U.S. monetary policy — views that tend to place him outside of the Republican mainstream.

Paul’s finish Ames makes Paul’s candidacy look less like a longshot, and more like a realistic possibility. The straw poll is a good, if imperfect, indicator of Republicans choice to win next February’s caucuses, and Paul’s finish on Saturday makes it seem increasingly plausible that he could win those contests.

Of course, if Paul were to eventually become president, we would advise him to not come within 100 miles of any school book depositories. Also to avoid prepared food, theaters, public speeches, pope mobiles (in fact any form of transportation that goes over 15 mph), to run like the wind from any and all hot tubs, jacuzzis, swimming pools, and baths, and in general to conduct his long overdue gold standard policy from a bunker several miles underground if possible.

Alas, this may all be just a tad optimistic.
