Now every time your money exchanges hands a new set of eyes will view it. Humans can be a curious creature and you will be surprised at the traffic you will generate.

Perhaps you could have a contest page for people coming to your site through a message you wrote on a banknote. Create a secret page such as www.domainname.com/contest or if your web host allows it: contest.domainname.com

Most people, when trying to compete, will either adjust their CPC rate upwards to match the minimum keywords price that Google sets, or if the keyword gets too pricy they will pause or delete it. How unfortunate. When you do that you are pissing your ad campaign out the window.

Now before I get a bunch of comments telling me that I don’t know what I am talking about…you are wrong and I am right. I have proven it on two separate occasions but…

There are Trade-Offs

It may be true that the ads will appear hardly ever over google.com directly, but they will display on content providers using AdSense. Remember this is an advertising on a shoestring budget. As time goes on and your traffic and revenues start to increase, you can start to pay more for your keywords.

Until then use this little used trick to help you promote your site.

Hey Mad Ape…How much do you bid for keywords?

You could go as low as $0.01 but I do not recommend it. You will get minimal impressions. When I do a Shoestring Google Campaign, I set my default bids to $0.10 per click and my daily budget to $10.00. That would translate to 100 clicks daily if all of my clicks occur. Although I usually do not obtain the maximum daily budget, I do usually obtain at 50%.

Experiment

What works for me may work differently for you. Experiment with your CPC rates. Maybe upping the default to $0.15 will result in more clicks because more ads are served.
