I got this in my email today and thought it was worth sharing.

AIN’T IT THE TRUTH!

Joe Smith started the day early having set his alarm clock (MADE IN JAPAN) for 6am. While his coffeepot (MADE IN CHINA) was perking, he shaved with his electric razor (MADE IN HONG KONG).

He put on a dress shirt (MADE IN SRI LANKA), designer jeans (MADE IN SINGAPORE) and tennis shoes (MADE IN KOREA). After cooking his breakfast in his new electric skillet (MADE IN INDIA) he sat down with his calculator (MADE IN MEXICO) to see how much he could spend today.

After setting his watch (MADE IN TAIWAN) to his radio (MADE IN INDIA) he got in his car (MADE IN GERMANY) filled it with GAS (FROM SAUDI ARABIA) and continued his search for a good paying job.

At the end of yet another discouraging and fruitless day checking his computer (MADE IN MALAYSIA), Joe decided to relax for a while. He put on his sandals (MADE IN BRAZIL) poured himself a glass of wine (MADE IN FRANCE) and turned on his TV (MADE IN INDONESIA).

While sipping his wine, Joe wondered why he couldn’t find a good paying job in CANADA/USA (choose your poison)

North America, with its high standard of living, has begun to slip. This is because there are too many other countries with people who are willing to manufacture goods for a fraction of cost of what we will manufacture it for.

Public corporations, by law, must strive to turn a profit for shareholders. By moving production to foreign countries we lose jobs but these corporations can turn out higher profits.

The longterm net effect will be that if North America wants to compete we will have a lower standard of living. How can this be fixed?

Unless all of us demand goods manufactured in North America things will not change. Do you think that will happen anytime soon? Nope … not as long as companies like WalMart keep flourishing with their made in China junk!

We will have to sacrifice and be willing to pay more for our goods, however breaking our addiction to cheap goods will be difficult, if not impossible.
