I am in a bit of a reflective mood today. The holiday season has come and gone and hopefully your holidays were as joyful as mine.

I spent the whole season with loved ones and we ate and ate and ate and ate. I put on 7 pounds of weight from 3 turkey dinners, a ton of chocolate, eggnog, etc…you get the picture…I over indulged.

This got me to thinking. We spend a lot of time over-indulging during the holidays, then spend the next few months trying to shed the indulgence through exercise and dieting. In other words getting rid of what we enjoyed.

This may be a bit corny but what if we were to apply the same level of indulgence to our minds. Whether it is reading a new book, playing music, going to a play, helping a stranger, learning new skills for blogging, traveling to experience a new culture, looking at the stars…whatever it is that floats your boat.

This type of indulgence will not have to be shed. In fact it will help us grow as a person…umm well for me as a primate!

Happy New Year All!
