How about if I tell you that spending only 10 minutes of your time reading this article I can show you how to get to the top for free. I know what I am about to say works. I have proven it.

No gimmicks, no tricks, just follow my simple instructions, and with some determination and patience, and you should get there.

My Recipe for becoming a Google Guru

Ingredients: Content, Keywords, Titles, Patience, Double Listings, Internal Links, External Links

On a cursory glance you may be saying ‘here we go again..same ole same ole’. Fine…if you think that way…I really don’t care because I know I am right and what I say is unique. The ingredients may be familiar but the dish being served is new. Spend an hour or two working this recipe and then wait for 30 days. You will see that I am your new best friend!

The Double Listing - Eye Candy for Search Engines

My blog is all about blogging to make money. Right now I want you to open a new browser window and do a Google search on the following phrase: ‘Income Strategies For Bloggers’.

It is no accident that my site appears first. Further, it is no accident that my site appears as a duplicate listing. Do you realize that your link stands a 200% better chance of being clicked on when you appear as a double listing?

People are drawn to the double listing because it takes up more of eye space on the page. It does not even have to be the top listing for it to be effective. In my opinion, a 10th place double listing is better than a top listing.

I accomplished this using some very basic techniques. You can too!

Am I the top blog about making money by blogging about making money? Nope…at least not yet. But I am now the top blog when someone searches for ‘income strategies for bloggers’.

Content is not King

We all know that content is king…right? Offering something unique that draws in readers…but is it really? For purposes of getting to the top of Google, I dare say that content is not king.

It is not so much the content, but how you distribute the content on your blog that is the real key. Don’t get me wrong, killer content is what will keep people coming back…but getting them there the first time, through a search engine needs something more. This is where I come in.

The Two Page Rule

You need to have at least one page (your content) dedicated to whatever it is you are talking about. This page will provide in-depth discussion/information on your subject matter. For sake of this discussion I will refer to it as the ‘target’ page.

Next, in your main landing page (home page), you will also need to briefly talk about the same content. DO NOT COPY. Google hates copying. Coying content is a sure-fire way to get you into trouble with the Google Getsapo. You stand a good chance of getting penalized for copying. Just provide some sort of introductory information about the content…’a teaser’ as I like to call it.

Keywords - Less is More

In your target page make sure that you use specific keywords in your metatags. Make sure that these keywords are on target and relevant to your content. In other words do not overdo it. If your list is a mile long you are spreading yourself too thin. Save the mile long list for your home page only. Even then, make sure to keep your keywords on topic with your site.

Notice how I have said the same thing over and over, using slight variations. I have also included some of these, plus variations in my list of Home Page keywords:

free content
money blog
money making tips blog
blogging for dollars
make easy money blogging with
make money blogging bloggers
etc…

Keywords are not static

You need to keep tweaking your keyword list. There is always room for improvement. If a keyword does not work get rid of it. Remember you are trying to establish yourself as the number one requested site on Google with a double listing. What works for me may not necessarily work for you.

Keywords in your content

Try and use your keywords in your content. Use creative writing and make sure that you are not using them just for the sake of using them. Contrived writing sucks. Creativity and uniqueness is the key to keyword incorporation in your content.

Keywords in your title

The title of my target page is ‘Income Strategies for Bloggers’. It is very relevant and continues my trend of embedding keywords in every aspect of the target page.

Connectivity

Notice how I am connecting content to keywords to page title. This all helps you in obtaining your listing.

To get the Double Listing - Internal linking - connectivity amongst your pages is the way to go. It can be something as simple as having a link within your navigation menu or placing a link in content somewhere else on the site. More is better as long as it is not contrived and deliberate link-baiting. Google will not react kindly if you were to put the same link a hundred times on one page.

Building traffic - External Linking - this is how you gain a following in mass quantities. Word of mouth advertising is the best form of advertising that there is. People who like your site, like your message, like and respect you for your service will link to you on their site.

This is not an overnight thing. Patience…patience…patience.

People will naturally try and shortcut external link building by paying others to link to them, using link exchanges, using pay-to-review services, and a whole host of other tricks.

Please don’t use these services to build external linking. They are not authentic and in the long run will not help you. If your website is continually showing up on crap sites, Google will notice and your site will be deemed crap too. Call it guilty by association.

The Final Reward - Google deems you an expert

I have not got there yet so I have to use another site as an example. I love professional hockey and the best site for pro hockey is NHL.com.

Google has deemed this site an expert on the subject of pro hockey, hence they get the hard-to-obtain ‘expert’ listing. This when you know that you are the best in your field. Getting there is a journey in hard work, patience, keyword tweaking, keyword connectivity, internal and external link building.

My content sucks and I like it that way!

Remember how I said earlier that content is not king. If you read the content of my ‘Income Strategies for Bloggers‘ page I am sure that you will agree that it is not any big deal.

In my opinion it says a whole lot of nothing but because I followed the process in this article I have proven that even crap content can make it to the top of the Google heap. Imagine what killer content could do?
