On Christmas day I wanted to spend a couple of hours on my blog but when I started my computer I got the Windows Blue Screen of Death. I shut my computer down and re-started it. The hard drive was screaming like a mad man.

My last back up of vital documents had been December 23 so all is not lost but I did lose 2 weeks of email as December 10 was my last full backup. I could not post a blog entry yesterday as I had to dig out and reconfigure my old computer to get it running again.

Things may be a bit slow using this old clunker but I will manage until I get the hard drive replaced. Whether you are backed up or not it is still a pain in the ass to recover from a catastrophic computer crash.

The amount of software and documents that I need to reinstall is mind boggling. It will take a few days once I get the thing repaired.
