Posted by The Mad Ape as Precious Metals
After viewing G4T’s video on silver exchange for food. I thought that I would go into more detail showing an example with small weight silver coinage. I have in my past SouthernLibertyAmer videos tried to explain why you might find it to your benefit in acquiring small weights of precious metals. I say this because in the event there is a economic crisis, silver (and gold) will most certainly skyrocket in prices. The Lydian Mint website is a place where some may would like to purchase 1/4 oz weights of .999 silver coins. Some sites have smaller weights of 1/10 oz of silver .999 silver coins. Although these are very nice in weight, I find that the premiums are to extravagant in premiums. Some premiums for the 1/10 oz weight silver .999 silver coins are averaging 150% in premiums. So rather than go that route if you prefer the .999, I’d recommend avoiding the high premiums and buy your less in premium 90% US Silver Coinage. In fact even the small weight 35% Jefferson WWII Nickels would be excellent………………………..Mike

@WhyMeWhySilver I thought that a barter was completed when both parties involved walked away feeling they got the upper hand or better deal

@SicaGR correct…..a barter completed when one of the two parties involved in the barter transaction feels that he/she has gotten the better deal out of the transaction :>)

@hedge313 – periodically check with your local coin shops for scrap silver. You can keep track of spot prices at Kitco.com. They are going to sell it above spot but at least you can keep track of what you will pay over spot.

@EcoWhale – Sweet pea. people do that now. If some one is going to rob you they are going to rob you regardless of what you have.

@WorldForeverChanged – The thing about barter is you must have something they want & are willing to trade for. That’s where the silver & the gold come in.

@WorldForeverChanged Since you’re one for an argument. I suggest you not post a reply. I won’t approve it.
And if you don’t believe what other’s do…stay within your own. Why view video’s such as this. Just to argue because of YOUR unbelief.

@WorldForeverChanged So….why do you watch videos such as this? I wouldn’t expect most 21 year olds (such as yourself) to understand. You just started shaving right? You’ve got your Rap Box on your shoulder and holding your pants up with the other. You stated that you may not believe in God. Well…what should one expect? Who’s the blame for that? Your parents maybe? There’s always your kind that show’s up. If I’m wrong I lose nothing. If you’re wrong, you lose everything…..RIGHT?

Why are you talking about God? what if I don’t beleive in a God?
I just stated that if the economy ever did completely collapse, why would people give their food over for silver? I mean some would say when the smoke clears people will start bartering again but silver?? if anything people will trade what they can use such as food, clothing, bedding, medical stuff… coins.. even gold won’t be worth crap to survivors at least for many years.

@WorldForeverChanged Hey….sit around and do nothing for yourself or your family and wait for God to drop a rope from Heaven and say, “Hey Guys! Come on up!” Do you no think that God expects for you to do SOME things for yourself? So WorldForeverChanged…… “GET A GRIP!”

some of you argue the economy is going to collapse and the only way to not starve is to use silver and gold… even in the unlikely event that modern currency collapses.. you’re going to hoarde food for yourself.. what good will silver do you in a post-apocalyptic world? get a grip.. saying that silver and gold coins are a nice investment.. but you get the point

If things are that bad, you will simply have all your precious metals robbed from you. You may have a gun and a dog, but both of you have to sleep every night When it comes down to basic survival, people will turn to any means to survive even if it means robbing neighbors. So, also invest in a good guard dog and sleep with a good pistol at least as you see things starting to get this bad.

@Heidelager
But you’re right. The Third Reich Silver Coins do have a Numismatic Value to them. Be careful of claimed BU Coins. There’s very few left in existence.

Do you live here in the U.S. If so, I highly recommend that you purchase the U.S. Coins (90%), (40%), and (35%). I would say the same thing to someone else in their own country. Buy the coins from the Country that you reside in. Keep things simple because there would surely be a language barrier in understanding the different silver content of coins of a Country that the people don’t reside in.

I currently have 300 dimes for this purpose. I would have to use a couple of half dollars to get up to that amount, and then use the dimes to get closer, thus lowering my amount of waste. I have several 40% halves that would probably be used first, as they are bulky. I do like the fact that they too can be used to get close when using 40/90 combinations.

A prime choice for silver bullion coins with extra collector value! The Third Reich produced millions of 90% silver coins. Each Nazi 5 Reichsmark coin weighed 13.88 g and contained exactly 12.5 g of fine silver. Almost half an ounze of silver in each coin. These coins are still readily available today! And besides their inherant value as silver bullion, they are also genuine Third Reich collectables thus adding to their value!

Interesting. Too bad there’s not enough silver on the planet anymore for Americans, let alone the world to use. And if/when USD collapses, there’s just going to be another currency (amero/den/whatever). I’d buy guns AND silver… We’d all like to see silver at $2000/oz but let’s face it guys, we are not going back to donkeys with pots clanking on the sides, not anytime soon.
