The Rubicon Project is a new business model for a website that allows you to bring together all of your online ad publishing accounts under one umbrella. This is a new upstart that has already received over $6 million in advanced funding.
I don’t know about you, but when a new upstart can acquire that much upfront capital, I stop and take notice.
From their website:

Clearstone Venture Partners Sole Series A Investor
Los Angeles, Calif. – October 2, 2007 – the Rubicon Project, a company with a mission to automate the large, yet highly inefficient Internet advertising industry, announces Clearstone Venture Partners as the sole Series A investor. Clearstone invested $4 million in equity funding for incubation and product development. Separately, an additional $2 million in venture debt was secured through Square1Bank. Quick access to over 300 ad service networks save time
Currently they are serving ads for over 300 companies including all of the heavyweights. Whether you are using Google Adsense, Adclix, Adbrite, Clickbooth, or a host of others, Rubicon is offering you the convenience of allowing of your monitoring to be under one roof, so-to-speak.
I know that you can not possibly be signed up to 300+ ad serving networks, so being able to do that with a one-stop registration process makes sense from a convenience point of view. Another feature I like is the fact that I can transfer my current Adsense or any other supported advertsing account there if I wish.
Rubicon Helps Maximize Your Revenue
With their technical prowess they offer a self-serve solution that optimizes your ad space by matching ads to networks that make you the most money. In other words they will try and put the highest paying, best possible targeted ads on your site.
Questions and Answers
You are probably asking yourself how will you get paid? When will you get paid? What will their service cost? I can answer some of the questions for you, but not all. You see this site is still in beta and their business model has not been fully established.
Once you sign on with Rubicon you transfer the accounting aspect of your advertising to them, in other words all payments for advertising go to them first. They guarantee that they will pay you within 15 days of receiving payment for advertising on your site.
Trust Thy Site
So what this comes down to is a trust issue. There is no doubt that this a convenient way to manage advertising on your site. If you have an excessive number of advertisers that are too difficult to manage individually, or you want quick access to all the advertisers and you are willing to wait a couple of extra weeks for your money, then this site is for you.
At this moment they do not intend to charge a fee to you. They are hoping that they can get the support of the advertisers themselves to pay the cost for their service.
Wait and See
I am going to sit back and monitor the progress of this site as I am still not 100% sold on it. The idea is good but the business model it is still evolving. Until I can see how the business model will affect my bottom line I will remain uncommitted.
Good luck Rubicon, I wish you much success.
