Boycott Earth Hour 2009 and Boycott Earth Hour Plugin for WordPress

Earth Day / Earth Hour 2009 is rapidly approaching again so I am here to do my part to tell you to boycott this nonsense. It was about this time one year ago, that I blogged about this BS.

Let’s think about this for a second. There are about 33 million Canadians, 330 million Americans. As of July 2007 there are 1,321,851,888 Chinese and 1,129,866,154 Indians (who counted?). If western civilization was really interested in doing something good for the planet then they would be coming up with economically viable ‘green’ energy sources for these populations as they strive to catch up with us. You see, to them, we are the green grass on the other side of the hill and they want to be like us.

They all want cars and toys and they will pump out more pollution per month than we do in 5 years. Our ‘eureka’ lights have been out for years because we have had it too good for too long and now the rest of the world wants in on our action.

Humans are being very hypocritical when they participate in something like this. For all of the recycling and conservation that North America is doing, it amounts to diddly squat at helping the environment. The Western world needs to get off of its collective asses and invest its brainpower toward creating new ways to mass-produce horsepower.

This whole earth day thing raises awareness alright. Awareness of just how gullible humans are and how they jump on any bandwagon being sold by the media to give them a false sense of ‘feeling good’ .

Think about that the next time you are in the lineup at the drive-thru in your Lincoln Navigator.

Well one more year has passed and this lunacy continues. A WordPress Developer has developed the Earth Hour plugin that will shut your blog down for 1 hour to show your support for Earth Hour.

Doesn’t that give you such a fuzzy and warm feeling inside? Don’t you feel like running barefoot through the forest with all of your friends? Perhaps you will find a big ole tree and hold hands in a circle around it, singing Kum Ba Ya.

Well here is what the Guano Apes and myself think of all of you Eco geeks and your Kum Ba Ya crap:

I love the part about using old clunkers to pull around the geek, toss his guitar, spill garbage, and best of all spilling gas all over the place!

Check back soon because I am far from done with this BS topic. Today’s youth have been brainwashed into thinking that they are doing something good, when all they are doing is wasting their time.

Well, instead of doing something good, all you seem to be doing is complaining. I also think it’s ironic that you’re complaining about people driving SUVs and what not, and yet this whole blog is targeting people who want to make or save more money.

At least the people who are supporting Earth Hour are trying to get the message across that the environment is important. Perhaps you don’t agree with the methodology, but the exposure being generated ultimately helps educate people and hopefully inspire them to make changes.

If you really want to help the environment, perhaps you’d write a post on how to take measures to help it instead of ridiculing others that are attempting that very thing.

Hey Duane. News flash. Your human arrogance is showing. The planet does not need saving. The planet has never needed saving from anything.The planet is just fine as it is.

The education you are referring to is nothing more than the results of your over-exposure to a propaganda machine that began before you were probably born.

You may think that you are doing something good when in fact you are doing nothing at all.

I did not complain about SUV`s I have a huge 4X4 gas guzzlin`pig that I drive and I am proud of it. Bring on global warming, I am tired of cold winters. You must be too…I see you burned some jet fuel to get to Mexico.

Now why is that Duane? Is it because you have no counter-argument? At least I have the balls to allow airing of your viewpoint on here, even though you did not reciprocate.

So allow me to repeat the question I asked you on your blog on here, with respect to the beautiful photo from Mexico that you took.

My comment was, and I may be paraphrasing a bit, because I can not see what I wrote…but it was something like this:

Nice photo. What was the total carbon emissions used by you to get that photo?

My comment was either removed or not approved…but either way are you not being hypocritical?

I mean, if what you say is correct, then explain to me how shutting your blog down for an hour helps the environment more than not flying to Mexico and spewing carbon emissions into the atmosphere?

A simple question from a dumb monkey…
